5.10.26 WHEN THE SPIRIT MOVES: Compassion Rises
Acts 9:36–43, Micah 6:6–8
Dear Trinity Family & Friends,
This Sunday, we continue our sermon series When the Spirit Moves with the message: “Compassion Rises.” As we gather on Mother’s Day, we also take time to give thanks for the many ways compassion has been lived out in our lives through mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and others who have shaped us with quiet strength, steady presence, and sacrificial care. We also hold space for those for whom this day carries grief, longing, or complexity. Wherever you find yourself, we trust that God meets us with compassion.
In Acts 9, we meet Tabitha, a woman known not for her position, but for her compassion. Her life reminds us that the work of the Spirit is often steady, consistent, and deeply personal. Compassion is not an extra part of faith, but it’s a central expression of it. Micah also reminds us to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God. And when the Spirit moves, compassion becomes visible.
Reflect and Prepare
- Who has shaped your life through compassion?
- Where do you see needs around you?
- What keeps us from responding?
- How is compassion connected to faith?
- What does it mean to live a life that matters to others?
- Where might God be inviting you to serve?
- What is one act of compassion you can offer this week?
The Spirit forms Christ’s heart within us, a heart that sees, responds, and cares. As we give thanks for those who have shown us compassion, may we also become people who embody it, trusting that even the quietest acts of love can reflect the presence of God in powerful ways.
Blessings,
Pastor Dedric
