Building Restoration Project Update: A Fresh Vision for Trinity’s Interior Spaces

WELCOME ENTRANCE UPDATE
Over the past two years, the Trustees have worked closely with Stephen Ward & Associates to develop and finalize the design for a new Welcome Entrance to enhance the visibility and functionality of our Main Office entryway. After sending the project out for bid to multiple contractors, the responses received came in at nearly three times the original budget.
Following much prayerful discernment and discussion, the Trustees, in partnership with the Finance Committee, have chosen to pause the exterior Welcome Entrance project for now, recognizing that moving forward at this time would not reflect the most faithful stewardship of our resources. While this was a thoughtful and careful decision, we are encouraged by the possibilities ahead. We will retain the completed designs and revisit this project in the future as circumstances allow.
For now, we are shifting our focus to the interior of our facility, creating spaces that will better serve our current ministries and our growing congregation. We are pleased to announce that we are working with Accents of the South, a respected interior design firm here in Huntsville, to develop a comprehensive design plan that includes refreshed finishes, improved layout, and updated furnishings across key areas of our church.
This interior design project with Accents of the South will unfold in three phases, each bringing us closer to refreshed, functional, and beautiful ministry spaces. During the Conceptual Design Phase, the team will develop multiple interior concepts, including general finishes, lighting ideas, furniture layouts, color schemes, and a preliminary furnishings budget. Once approved, we will move into the Design Development Phase, where selections are finalized for finishes, furnishings, lighting, cabinetry, artwork, and accessories, along with a detailed working budget. Finally, in the Renovations Phase, the team will produce full plans and specifications to prepare for bidding and installation. We are grateful for the creativity and care Accents of the South brings to this process and look forward to sharing more as the vision takes shape!
MINISTRY SPACE LOCATION CHANGES
Thanks to an extremely generous designated gift, exciting changes are underway to expand and enhance our Children’s Ministry space to include the first floor of the Epworth Wing, transforming it into a dedicated Elementary Children's Wing.
This renovation represents an exciting step forward for our Children’s Ministry, creating a vibrant and welcoming environment designed with both safety and spiritual growth in mind. By transforming the first floor of the Epworth Wing into a dedicated Elementary Children’s Wing, we will be able to offer age-specific classrooms that allow for more intentional, developmentally appropriate teaching. The refreshed space will not only make it easier for children to invite their friends, but it will also help families, especially those new to our church, more easily locate and engage with our children’s ministry. The updated layout, with clearly defined entrances and exits, will enhance security and streamline drop-off and pick-up procedures, giving parents greater peace of mind. Additionally, this new design will help our oldest children remain engaged through tailored experiences that reflect their growing faith and maturity. Overall, this renovation will strengthen our ability to nurture young disciples in a space that is joyful, safe, and centered on Christ.
To accommodate this shift, our Missions & Justice ministries will relocate to a newly designated area beneath the Sanctuary, an exciting space designed to support hands-on service and outreach. This area will feature a spacious Missions & Justice Common Room, ideal for mission projects, packing supplies, organized storage, and collaborative work. In addition, dedicated rooms will be provided for specific ministries, including Meals to Grow, Enable of Madison County, the Jesus Library, and the Warm Hearts Visitation Ministry, allowing each the space and resources they need to thrive so they may serve others well.
We are deeply grateful to the Society of Friends, Disciples, and ConneXions Sunday School classes for their flexibility and support in making this transition possible. All three classes will now meet on the 2nd floor of the Asbury Wing, where they can enjoy the benefits of being closer to other adult classes. These new spaces will include permanent technology setups and even a classroom piano, which we hope will further enrich their discipleship experiences and foster a renewed sense of community and connection.
STAFF OFFICE RELOCATIONS
To increase collaboration and visibility, several staff offices are also relocating:
- Facilities and Accounting staff will now be on the 1st floor of the Main Office, easily accessible at the front entrance to welcome members and guests throughout the week.
- Student Ministry Staff (Youth & Children) will now be located on the 2nd floor of the Wesley Wing, adjacent to the Clergy Suite. This brings our next-generation ministry teams together in one space and fosters greater synergy among staff.
TIMELINE
The moving process is happening quickly:
- A professional moving company will be on campus Monday, July 28 to handle the heavy lifting.
- Staff and ministry teams will begin settling into their new spaces throughout the following week.
- The above mentioned Sunday School classes will meet in their new locations beginning Sunday, August 3.
As you can see, there has been significant progress and meaningful development with our facilities this summer! We are so thankful for everyone who has supported this journey through both action and prayer, and we are filled with anticipation for how God will move through these changes. Please continue to lift this work in prayer as it unfolds. May these updates deepen our hospitality, strengthen our ministries, and help us more fully live out our vision: to invite all to gather in love, grow in faith, and give back in joyful service.
