Building Restoration Project Update: Limestone Work Nearing Completion

LIMESTONE & BRICK RESTORATION UPDATE

Simpson Plastering is making excellent headway on their 210 Day work repairing and restoring all exterior limestone and masonry around the building. The cleaning and sealing of the west side of the Sanctuary is now complete and the crew is close to completion of the cleaning and sealing on the front and east sides as well. If the weather continues to cooperate, the project may be able to remove the scaffolding in March. Some extra good news: while we enjoyed the extra festive effect of the red taping during the Advent season, the Sanctuary windows will be uncovered by Easter, allowing all the light to enter as we celebrate the Resurrection!

All the brick around the upper portion of the gym has been removed. Replacement panels have arrived, however we await the shipment of the flashing materials in order to complete this phase of the project. All gutter leaks will also be repaired at this time.

On Ash Wednesday, the door contractor was on site taking measurements and gathering specs for the new Transept and Children’s Wing doors.

WELCOME ENTRANCE UPDATE

As the limestone and brick phase of the project is nearing completion, Stephen Ward & Associates is now preparing for the construction of our new Welcome Entrance, which will include doors facing Airport Road that lead into our Main Office on the east side of our campus. Blueprints are being designed by the structural engineer. As soon as those are complete, we will request bids for the project from various contractors.

CHILDREN’S WING RENOVATIONS UPDATE

NEW FLOORING

In January, Commercial Flooring completed the installation of the new flooring in the Aldersgate Children’s Wing hallway, so now the kids are walking on water everywhere they go!

Next steps for the Children’s Wing renovations involve the Child Development Center, Children's Ministry, and Facilities Teams finalizing the artistic plan for the Noah's Ark theme, then painting and artwork will be scheduled. Again, the goal is for these hallways to reflect our vibrant ministry with our children and draw them running toward God’s Promises!
