3.22.26 JESUS IN HIGH-RESOLUTION: Seeing What We Missed

Rev. Carrie Jones • March 16, 2026

Luke 24:13–35, Isaiah 53:1–6

Dear Trinity Family & Friends,

Have you ever looked back on a season of your life and realized that God was present in ways you couldn’t see at the time? On the road to Emmaus, the disciples walk with Jesus and do not recognize him. They know the facts. They know what happened. But grief has clouded their imagination.

“We had hoped…” Those words carry the weight of disappointment. And yet, Jesus walks beside them. He listens. He opens Scripture. He breaks bread. Recognition comes slowly. This Sunday, we will reflect on delayed recognition and the gentle ways Christ reveals himself in Scripture, in community, and in ordinary moments.

Our small group lesson will help us practice looking back with holy attentiveness, asking where Christ has been walking with us all along.
