5.11.25 (Mother’s Day): A Mother's Love
Exodus 2:1-10, 2 Timothy 1:3-7
Dear Trinity Family & Friends,
This Sunday, we gather for a meaningful day of worship as we celebrate Mother’s Day with a sermon entitled “A Mother’s Love,” based on Exodus 2:1–10 and 2 Timothy 1:3–7 (CEB). Through these powerful Scriptures, we reflect on the strength, sacrifice, and spiritual nurture that caregivers of all kinds offer to the people in their lives.
In Exodus, we witness the brave and selfless act of Moses’ birthmother, who placed her child in a basket and entrusted him to God. Her courage is echoed in the Pharaoh’s daughter, who chose compassion over convention. Together, these women remind us that caregiving often requires tremendous faith. In 2 Timothy, Paul gives thanks for the sincere faith passed down through generations—from Timothy’s grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. Their example shows us that nurturing faith is not limited to one role. It’s a holy calling that can come through parents, grandparents, mentors, guardians, teachers, and friends.
This Sunday, we honor all those who have nurtured others with love and faith—mothers and mother-figures, parents and grandparents, guardians and mentors—those who have chosen the path of compassion, care, and spiritual encouragement.
We also recognize that Mother’s Day brings a mix of emotions. Some will come in joy. Others may come with grief, longing, or pain. Whether you are celebrating, remembering, or simply needing connection, we believe this Sunday will offer space for healing, gratitude, and belonging.
And it’s a great Sunday to invite family and friends to worship! Whether someone is coming with their family or needs to be reminded they are not alone, we hope they’ll find a home with us. Let’s be Trinity Together—a community that opens its doors to all and celebrates the love that shapes and sustains us.
As we prepare our hearts for Sunday, let’s reflect on these questions:
- What do Moses’ story and Timothy’s legacy teach us about the power of caregiving and faith across generations?
- Who in your life has offered you a nurturing, guiding love? How can you honor them this week?
- How are you being called to nurture others—in your family, community, or faith life?
- How can our church be a place that uplifts and supports all who care for and mentor others?
I am grateful for each of you and for the many ways you live out God’s love in your relationships. Join us this Sunday—and bring someone with you—as we celebrate “A Mother’s Love” and the God who nurtures us all.
Blessings,
Pastor Dedric
