8.25.24 LET'S BE REAL: “Relationships Are Hard”
Matthew 5:38-48, Romans 12:9-21
Dear Trinity Family & Friends:
As we continue our series, I am excited to introduce the upcoming sermon entitled “Relationships Are Hard.” This week, we will explore the complexities and challenges of maintaining healthy relationships, drawing wisdom from the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:38-48 (CEB) and the Apostle Paul’s teachings in Romans 12:9-21 (CEB).
As we reflect on these scriptures, we will explore the realities of human relationships—how they can bring both joy and pain, connection and conflict. We will discuss practical ways to embody Christ’s teachings in our daily interactions, even when it is challenging. Through these teachings, we will find that navigating the complexities of relationships is not only possible but also essential to living out our faith.
Here are some questions to consider, as we prepare:
- Jesus’ teachings in Matthew 5:38-48 challenge us to love our enemies and forgive those who hurt us. How can we apply this radical love in our daily lives, especially in difficult relationships?
- Romans 12:9-21 emphasizes the importance of genuine love and living in harmony with others. What are some practical ways we can embody these teachings in our interactions with family, friends, and even those we find challenging?
- Relationships often involve conflict and misunderstandings. How can we approach these situations with a Christ-like attitude, seeking reconciliation and peace rather than retaliation? What role does forgiveness play in maintaining healthy relationships?
I don’t know about you, but I need to learn to love more deeply, forgive more freely, and seek reconciliation and peace in all my relationships. In doing so, I believe we will discover that, even though relationships are hard, they are a crucial part of our spiritual growth and witness.
Blessings,
Pastor Dedric
