12.28.25 Holding the Messiah
Luke 2:25-32, Isaiah 25:1, 9
Over the past four weeks of Advent we have been on a journey, seeking to find the Christ Child. The themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love have been the path that ended at the manger. We dealt with John’s proclamations, Shepherds scared to death, Magi seeking for the unknown, and an angry King who wants to protect himself. All of these create Advent the story. Have you felt the passion and power of that journey? During this season have you had the yearning to come face to face with a baby knowing that you will be looking into the face of God?
The Isaiah text speaks of Advent: It will be said on that day, “See, this is our God; we have waited for him. But the Luke text is different. Christ is here – now! My eyes have seen your salvation.
Today we transition from looking for the Messiah to holding the Messiah. We do not need to rush from this place. Enjoy the moment. Listen to the cooing, crying, giggling baby and take it all in. This is the beginning of a new journey.
