FOOD FOR THOUGHT “For I was hungry, and you gave me food” Matt. 25:35

It is with a grateful yet heavy heart that I write this article. Susan Hively, my Co-Chair/Partner from day one of this mission programs existence passed away on September 24. Many of you know the story of how Food for Thought started, we both felt the Lord speaking to us and telling us to feed the hungry in our community. The thing that you don’t know is that this was the first time that she and I met and how much this mission project helped both of us to learn from each other and to be open to ways to hear the Lord. Food for Thought was a passion for her and one that she embraced with love and care for others. I often told her that she put others before herself and always had a hand reaching out to help others and she would say “that is the same of you, I think that is why we work so well together.” If neither one of us had listened, we might never have met and gotten this mission project started. I say all this to hopefully speak to your heart and help you to listen when the Lord speaks to you. With Thanksgiving upon us let us follow by example and reach our hands out to the many people needing assistance by providing sustenance to others. Let us honor Susan by filling as many bins as possible.
