FOOD FOR THOUGHT “For I was hungry and you gave me food…” Matt. 25:35

The holidays are upon us and many families are looking forward to sitting down to a meal with family and friends. When I was growing up we always went to my maternal grandmothers for Thanksgiving with the entire family and the table was filled with food. Since my grandmother fixed the majority of the food my mother started a tradition with our immediate family where we prepared a full-blown Thanksgiving meal and took it to a family that wasn’t as fortunate. When we delivered this meal, we also left groceries with them so that they had food for a month. This was her way of teaching us to share the blessings that the Lord had bestowed upon us. I tell this to you to give you a suggestion for providing the ingredients so that a family that isn’t as fortunate can prepare a meal that is fit for a king. The Lord blesses us and this is a wonderful way for us to bless others.

Bins are in place throughout the month for your contributions at the Wesley Hall entrance, the Narthex, and in The New Room Lobby. If you would rather make a monetary donation, make your check to TUMC and put FFT on the memo line.

The following are items that are requested for this month’s collection on November 5 that goes to Carolyn’s Cupboard at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (it is their Thanksgiving collection) as well as for next month’s collection on December 3 which will go to the food pantry at New Market United Methodist Church (it will be their Christmas donation) both food pantries have requested the following: oatmeal, cereal, pop tarts, canned sweet potatoes, canned potatoes canned corn, canned green beans, canned squash, canned cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, canned ham, cream of mushroom soup, French fried onions, gravy, cooking oil, tea bags, kool-aid, coffee and sugar.
