4.28.24 Reach, Love, Enrich, and Serve Huntsville: "Serve Huntsville" Combined Service - 10 am Sanctuary

Pastor Carrie Jones • Apr 22, 2024

John 13:1-19, Philippians 2:3-8 (CEB)

Dear Trinity Family & Friends:

This Easter season, God led Trinity to turn our hearts outward to Reach, Love, and Enrich our Huntsville community. This Sunday, that call will culminate in a Day of Service following 10 am Combined Worship in the Sanctuary and a fellowship meal in the Gym. I am grateful for the individuals, families, and small groups who are planning to serve together. It isn’t too late to find your spot to serve: just click here.

In preparation for Sunday’s worship and service, I invite you to read our scriptures of the day: John 13:4-17 and Philippians 2:3-8. Both scriptures highlight definitive moments in Jesus’ ministry: washing the disciples' feet and sacrificing his life on the cross. In both instances, Jesus’ example of servant leadership stands out as a powerful and transformative model for us as believers. In his earthly ministry, Jesus taught us that greatness in the Kingdom of God is not measured by worldly standards, but instead by having hearts and lives willing to serve others. Likewise, Jesus calls us to follow His example, to love and serve one another with the same selfless and compassionate heart.

As you consider Jesus’ example and command:

  1. What characteristics did Jesus have that prepared his heart for willing and sacrificial service to others?
  2. Who is someone you’ve known personally who has exemplified a servant’s heart like Jesus? What about their life stands out to you?
  3. Take a moment to reflect on your own heart. What do you see? Ask God to show you what next step is needed for your heart to become more of a servant’s heart like Jesus.

As followers of Christ, our call is to continuously cultivate a servant’s heart within ourselves and our congregation. We do this by reflecting the love and humility of Jesus in our daily lives as well as in the way our congregation is present in and for our community. By embracing a servant’s heart, we not only honor Jesus’ example but also participate in His mission to bring hope, healing, and salvation to a world in need.

I can’t wait to worship and serve with you this Sunday!

Blessings,

Pastor Carrie

Dear Trinity Family and Friends: I am still filled with the joy of the resurrection and excited to announce our new sermon series entitled “Reach, Love, Enrich, and Serve Huntsville,” inspired by Matthew 28:19 (CEB) , “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” By focusing on reaching out, loving unconditionally, enriching the lives of others, and serving our community, we endeavor to make Huntsville a reflection of the Kingdom of God.
