12.24.25: “Heaven Breaks Through”
Luke 2:1–20
Dear Trinity Family & Friends,
Christmas is the night when heaven breaks through.
This Christmas Eve, our sermon is entitled “Heaven Breaks Through.” At the heart of the story is the good news announced to shepherds: “I bring you good news of great joy for all the people. To you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.”
The birth of Jesus is the moment when heaven touches earth in the most personal way. Not in a palace, but in a stable. Not to kings, but to shepherds. Not with fanfare, but with simplicity. And yet, in that humble scene, the fullness of God’s promise is revealed through hope, peace, joy, and love wrapped in swaddling clothes.
What we learn from the shepherds is this: God’s good news is for everyone. The forgotten, the ordinary, the overlooked – all are invited to witness heaven breaking through in Jesus Christ. And because of that, we can live with confidence that God is still breaking through today, even when it is hard to see.
As we prepare for worship, I invite you to consider:
Christmas Eve Worship Services
We will gather for three services: 4 pm Contemporary Service with glowsticks and Holy Communion, and 7 pm and 10 pm Traditional Services with candlelight and Communion.
Bring your family, your friends, and your neighbors—there’s a place for everyone at the manger. I look forward to celebrating the wonder of Christmas with you.
Merry Christmas!
Pastor Dedric
