11.9.25 TRINITY TOGETHER TOWARD TOMORROW: Rooted and Released

Ephesians 4:11-16, Matthew 28:16-20

Dear Trinity Family & Friends,

This Sunday, we begin our three-week vision series, Trinity Together Toward Tomorrow, with a message titled “Rooted and Released.” As we look ahead to the future God is shaping for Trinity, we start with the truth that spiritual growth is never an end in itself. God roots us deeply in Christ so that we can be released to participate in his mission with courage, purpose, and love.

In Ephesians 4, Paul reminds us that Christ gives the church gifts - apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers - not for status, but for equipping God’s people. When each person does their part, the whole body grows in unity, maturity, and love. We are no longer spiritual infants tossed around by every shifting opinion or distraction. Instead, we “grow in every way into Christ,” who holds us together and strengthens us for the work ahead.

Spiritual maturity, then, isn’t measured by how much we know, but by how faithfully we live what we know. It’s expressed through love, service, generosity, and the shared work of building up the body of Christ.

Jesus affirms this calling in Matthew 28. Even as some disciples worshipped and others doubted, Jesus met them on the mountain and released them with a mission: Go. Make disciples. Baptize. Teach. Trust the presence of Christ every step of the way. The Great Commission is not a call reserved for a few; it is the natural outflow of a rooted life. When Christ is our foundation, we are freed - not pressured, but empowered - to go where he sends us.

As we launch this vision series, we do so with a deep desire to be a church that grows and goes. A church grounded in Scripture and shaped by love. A church committed to forming disciples who serve, give, share, invite, and live the good news beyond our walls.

My prayer is that this Sunday will remind us who we are and who we are becoming: a community rooted in Christ and released for Christ, ready to follow wherever he leads.

Blessings,

Pastor Carrie
