ReacHSV

Trinity UMC is joining other congregations in the Huntsville area to lift up and confront systemic racism in our nation and community – including within the Church. We are working with REACHsv to specifically and explicitly address the evil of systemic racism and commit to clear, ongoing action to root it out in our communities and in our country. For more information, like Facebook page: REACHsv.

More on REACHsv:

We are calling on churches across America to specifically and explicitly address the evil of systemic racism and commit to clear, ongoing action to root it out in our communities and in our country.

REACHsv will issue formal invitations to denominational leadership and individual church leaders across North Alabama.

REACHsv will equip members of the community for direct action by providing them formal invitations to carry back to their church leadership to encourage their leaders to stand in solidarity.

REACHsv in partnership with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Huntsville Chapter will provide a set of guiding principles and resources to ensure that this solidarity is expressed in ways that directly address the systemic problem rather than in ways that tokenize or mischaracterize.

REACHsv will issue a Solidarity Pledge—a public pledge by churches to continually fight systemic racism through 1) training for church leadership and 2) monthly efforts to raise awareness of systemic racism at the congregational level.

REACHsv will partner with Project Say Something to provide this ongoing training and accountability to ensure these efforts extend well beyond Solidarity Sunday.

We implore every church in America to stand in solidarity with their Black neighbors. The time for silence and complacency is over. We believe the call for followers of Jesus is to fight for justice, and we believe that call begins with a willingness to stand in solidarity.
