Trinity United Methodist Church
A New Time for a New Day Beginning January 27 Sunday School: 8:45 - 9:45 a.m. Traditional Service 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Contemporary C&C Worship 10:00 - 11:00
a.m.
We are positioning ourselves to make 2008 an exciting year of growth at Trinity!. Our
new morning structure gives “a new time for a new day” and provides
a schedule that will enable us to move toward our vision of “making a difference in the world
as disciples of Jesus Christ.”
Starting on January 27, we will have Sunday School from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m.
followed by a 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. worship time – there will be a traditional worship service in the Sanctuary
and a contemporary worship service in The New Room at the same time. Communion will be available
each Sunday as usual in the chapel, times will be announced soon.
Through this restructure we plan to reach out to the community around
us and to our current membership as we grow the involvement of our children, youth and adults in worship,
small groups activities and mission/service opportunities. It’s an exciting time for us!
As we have discussed the changes with our leadership,
church committee members, staff, and other groups in the church,
we have found a great deal of excitement about the benefits for the entire Trinity family:
-
By combining our 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. service
congregations, we will create a warmth and energy in our
traditional worship service which is needed for
growth.
-
We can emphasize the importance of Christian
Education in a major way once again.
-
This will increase our evangelism,
fellowship and spiritual growth opportunities with Sunday
school groups just before worship. The halls will be buzzing
with activity!
-
Youth and Children’s classes can now add
new ministries and activities, and anticipate significant
growth in both of those areas. And that will have a positive
impact on their Sunday and Wednesday night ministries.
-
Music and Fine Arts can create new and
enhanced programming.
-
Coffee and cookies will be available in the
Narthex and the New Room Lobby, creating fellowship
opportunities in both worship areas after Sunday school
(Meet in the Middle will be discontinued).
-
We will also provide information centers in
the Narthex, the New Room Lobby, and the Wesley Hall
entrance hall. These will be central points for event and
class registrations, brochures and flyers on our many
ministries, programs and missions, and more.
-
With the 11:00 hour free, we can share
together in a common meal once a month alternating between
prepared meals, catered meals, box lunches, and pot luck
“dinner on the grounds.” These will provide great fun
and fellowship for our members and guests in both worship
services and all small groups.
-
To launch this new schedule on January 27,
we are introducing our first “Trinity Loves the Tennessee
Valley” Mission Day, where we will work both here at the
church and in service and mission centers all over the area.
We hope to have 500 to 1,000 children, youth and adults
participating in our meal and mission/service opportunities
on that day.
This is such an exciting time that we hope you
will take the opportunity of inviting other family and friends
to come and join us on this special day. We are opening it to
the whole community and in hope to see members and guests
working side-by-side to make a difference in our area as
disciples of Jesus Christ.

Trinity United Methodist Church's vision from its beginning has been an
evolving unending vision. From time to time it has been captured in words.
Where God leads and where there are needs Trinity United Methodist Church
challenges its members to be there as they respond to the current mission
statement:
Trinity United Methodist Church guides people of all ages to
hear and respond to the living Gods call by using their skills,
abilities, and money to make a difference in the world as disciples of
Jesus Christ.
