Seminole Service Center

Seminole Service Center located near Seminole Drive in Southwest Huntsville is a long-standing Huntsville charity that owes its origin to Trinity United Methodist Church. In particular, one of our caring charter members, Frances Graham, and the ladies of the WSCS (now UMW) began the project in 1964. They called it the Butler Terrace Project, at the time, from its location in the Butler Terrace and Binford Court region, which is a predominantly low-income area. Their efforts focused on developing individuals and strengthening family life through enrichment programs for children, tutoring, recreation and sports. The children looked forward to Christmas because they knew the Trinity ladies had something to do with Santa bringing them new toys and clothes.

Although Frances Graham is no longer able to attend Trinity, we always think of her this time of year. She’s suffering from a long-term illness, but has recently left Colorado to return home to her roots in Hazel Green. We want her to know that Trinity still supports her beloved project at Christmas with our annual Seminole Center gift Christmas tree.
