Founding Members of Trinity

Coy Brock

Coy Brock was one of the five founding members of Trinity Church in 1956. He was a long term member of Trinity until his death at 92 on December 14, 1995. Most of us called him Mr. Brock, because in those early days of Trinity’s growth he was the oldest member of that young congregation. Fortunately, he was the recording secretary for the official board during those formative years and left a legacy of detailed notes expertly typed by his wife Katherine. Those records, currently preserved in the Trinity Archives, could serve as a guide for any beginning church.

On many occasions he imparted wisdom to the laity and even to the clergy as he stood up during a church service to prompt the preacher. He once told me there were two reasons most members don’t tithe. He said they either make too little or too much money. The ones that make too little want to save it for some new clothes or perhaps a weekend vacation. But, those who make too much can’t part with it because they say, “My gosh, that’s too much money. I could even buy a new car with that amount. Yes, Mr. Brock had the wisdom of the ages.
