Trinity History: 1960 - 1969
Amazing Spiritual and Physical Growth!

In a nine-year period, the young Trinity congregation (average age 33) built the sanctuary, built A and B Buildings, welcomed an average of 25 new members every Sunday, had 66 Sunday School classes - and helped start Valley Methodist Church and University Methodist Church (now Grace UMC).

Trinity's First Sanctuary

This was also a time of racial strife and desegregation in our state, and the Vietnam War was underway. Trinity established an outreach missions program that resulted in Project Discovery (working with inner city children), Interfaith Mission Service, the Seminole Service Center (tutoring children), and many more. Truly giving of their gifts of time, talents and money, this Church family did amazing things through Jesus Christ.

Reverend Warren Hamby

Reverend Warren Hamby provided the leadership during this time of amazing growth. He also increased the church staff with the appointment of our first associate pastor; hiring our first Minister of Christian Education and Minister of Music; and hiring our first full-time secretary and our first full-time custodian.

Dr. Tillman Sprouse

Dr. Tillman Sprouse saw the installation of our first pipe organ and served when the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church merged. Trinity Methodist Church became Trinity United Methodist Church. During this decade of growth and change in our church, our state and our nation, Trinity provided innovative, creative and progressive solutions - just as it continues to do today.
