Intersect Huntsville

Intersect Huntsville (iHSV) is a new mission and ministry initiative of Trinity UMC. Intersect’s goal is to connect incoming groups to service-learning opportunities, and provide a spiritual and educational focus within the unique historical and cultural context of Huntsville, Alabama.

We host youth and young adult groups for a week during the summer, providing meals, lodging, programming, and opportunities for recreation.

iHSV has been made possible in large part due to the financial stewardship of the congregation of Trinity UMC and their desire to make a difference in the lives of the people of the Huntsville area.

Groups will arrive on Sunday evening for a time of introduction to the program and city, along with a time of worship and fellowship.

Work teams will be assigned and work together Monday through Thursday at various locations throughout the city. Evenings will consist of a time of worship, reflection on the day’s events, connection to our Christian discipline, and recreation.

On Friday, groups will have an opportunity to tour the city on their way out of town, including visiting the Space & Rocket Center or taking advantage of other area and regional activities. For groups that would like to depart on Saturday morning, accommodations can be made given adequate notice.

Work in a typical week:

Home repair
Homeless outreach
Food pantries and food distribution
Clothing distribution
Environmental cleanup and awareness
Community gardens
Interaction with multi-cultural and interfaith communities

iHSV can accommodate up to 55 participants including adult chaperones.
